Squash goes to jail

Poor little Squash decided to finally turn himself in!

Has anyone else ever encountered this problem?  I am working on crate training/potty training my foster dog Nala at the moment when suddenly my little 10 month old kitten decides that he is going to make her crate his home whenever she leaves it!

I looked in there the other day to see that Squash had made himself at home in Nala’s bedding in her crate as though it was his new hang out.  Being ever the patient soul, Nala just looked at me with a quizzical and confused face and then trotted over to her dog bowl instead.

I am really hoping that this behavior on the part of my cat does not cause my dog to feel as though this is not her “lair” anymore as I know that this is an important piece of the process of crate training. However, at present it appears as though there is no problem between the two of them as they interact in a very amicable, albeit cautious way (Sometimes Squash likes to try and attack Nala as she is walking past him, especially if he has the higher or hidden ground like on top of the bed, the couch or behind the slats of a dining room chair.)
